Tobacco Cessation in Indian Schools

India’s Department of Education in partnership with Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, and Healis wanted to create a fully gamified tobacco cessation program for schools in India. The content came from a previously successful in-person program.

How did ProMobile decide on a treatment?

In developing the final product for this project, ProMobile engaged frequently with all members of the stakeholder committee, conducted in-person interviews with potential participants, and held several ideation sessions. Once we fully understood the requirements and limitations, we decided that a mobile app was the best solution for this project.

ProMobile’s creative team designed, developed, tested, and released an Android-ready mobile app designed with the young audience in mind.

Associated material included six months’ worth of content: PDF documents, animated videos, metrics dashboards, and leaderboards. This video is a small part of that program.

What was the resulting benefit to the client?

Over 80% of potential participants engaged with the program throughout its 6-month period. This project will be used to request an extension to the funding organization to scale it more significantly.

What was unusual or interesting about this project?

This project involved all aspects of the ProMobile team, from complex international project management to stakeholder engagement. It was a huge multi-team, multi-month effort that included UX design, application development, content creation, and finally an analysis and evaluation of the program. The app resulted in successful social outcomes and was nominated for several international awards.
